Home

Well we made it home at 3AM this morning. The flights over were probably the best we've ever had. We had virtually no layover time, we just kept going from flight to flight. Which turned out to be to our advantage.

This morning we spent getting reacquainted with some very important things: Bruegger's bagels, Tito's Pizza, Boda Pipes, and Coffee and Crema. Tonight is hot dog night and it will not come a second too soon.

We already started moving some of our things into our new apartment. We are so excited to begin this new chapter in our lives.

Final Exams

Well here we are; only a little over a week to go and final exams have begun. This semester is off to a ravishing start. Only the second day and I already have 11 students who were caught cheating. It can only get better from here, right?

The apartment is once again turned upside down as we drowned in a sea of paperwork. We are determined to get our exams graded and the paper work done early. We'll need as much time as we can get to pack and say our final goodbyes.

TSC

This is a Three Self Church founded originally in 1934 in Tianjin. They still hold services in the building today.

There is the outer building that is connected through a narrow courtyard to the main meeting hall.

Packing

So the packing has begun. We know it is still 2 weeks out, but doing a little every day is making the task much easier.

Unfortunately, most of our stuff is the husband's books. Heavy books. So we are doing our best to divide them up between 4 suitcases and 2 carry-ons. Also we have 3 massive paintings that a friend made for us that we could find no justification for leaving.

Throw in a few odds and ends and the suitcases are filling up fast! Most of our clothes will not be making the journey back with us. The main reason is they don't fit us anymore. We've lost so much weight that all our clothes are at least 2 sizes too big. We are not complaining; we enjoy these kind of hardships :-)

13 days.

The Italian District

In the heart of Tianjin stands the Italian district. At the heart of the Italian district stands a massive angel statue fountain. By far one of the prettiest sites to see; especially at night.

Also, there were several Italian style villas and restaurants with, for the most part, fairly authentic Italian food. The atmosphere was lively and well Italian! Plenty of German(?) beer to go around and a great hang out spot for us to enjoy the World Cup.
